Explore Traditional Printmaking
Woodcut is one of the oldest relief printmaking processes – deeply satisfying, hands-on, and endlessly expressive. In this one-day workshop, you’ll create a two-layer woodcut print using Japanese plywood and specialist carving tools.
Not to be confused with wood engraving or wood block printing, this technique involves carving into the side grain of the wood, working with the grain to create bold, organic marks.
Led by experienced printmaker and teacher Jo Morley this workshop is perfect for beginners as well as artists wanting to explore a different kind of mark-making.
What’s Included:
• One full day of guided tuition (10am–4:30pm)
• Introduction to woodcut technique and Japanese tools
• Relaxed, supportive teaching environment
• Free on-site parking
• 5-minute walk from Bitterne Station and bus routes
All tools and materials are provided – just bring yourself, a packed lunch, and a willingness to get stuck in.
Price: £110
